History
What started
as a gathering of one hundred human service professionals in New
York City in 1985 has flourished into a national association focusing
on professional geriatric care management. The National Association
of Private Geriatric Care Managers (GCM) was established in 1986
and continues to grow as the demand for services for the elderly
increases.
While benefiting
both professionals and consumers, GCM is continuing to move forward
and is making an impact on the field of human services. Members
frequently participate in seminars, develop ethical standards of
practice, and write articles that have appeared in professional
publications - all in an effort to increase visibility.
The public will
increasingly become aware of the significant contributions GCM members
can make in providing comfort and quality of life for the elderly,
while relieving the stress from caring families.
